Song: Victory in Jesus
I heard an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary, to save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning of His precious blood's atoning
Then I repented of my sins and won the victory
O victory in Jesus, my Savior forever
He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him and all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood
I heard about His healing, of His cleansing pow'r revealing
How He made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see
And then I cried dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit
And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory
I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the streets of gold be - yond the crystal sea
About the angels singing the old redemption story
And some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of victory

Call to Worship
Adapted from Psalm 30:
One: Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
All: Praise his holy name.
One: For his anger lasts only a moment, but
All: His favor lasts a lifetime;
One: Weeping may stay for the night, but
All: Rejoicing comes in the morning.
One: God, You turned our wailing into dancing;
All: You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
One: That my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
All: Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
Song: Because He Lives (Amen)
I believe in the Son
I believe in the risen One
I believe I overcome
By the power of His blood
Amen, amen
I'm alive I'm alive
Because He lives
Amen, amen
Let my song join the
One that never ends
Because He lives
I was dead in the grave
I was covered in sin and shame
I heard mercy call my name
He rolled the stone away
Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth a living
Just because He lives
And life is worth a living
Just because He lives
Song: King of Kings
In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope without light
Till from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfil the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt
Praise the Father, Praise the Son
Praise the Spirit three in one
God of Glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died
And the morning that You rose
All of heaven held its breath
Till that stone was moved for good
For the Lamb had conquered death
And the dead rose from their tombs
And the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who'd come
To the Father are restored
And the Church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this Gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel shall not faint
By His blood and in His Name
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
Who has resurrected me
Song: Death Was Arrested
Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin
Lost without hope with no place to begin
Your love made a way to let mercy come in
When death was arrested and my life began
Ash was redeemed only beauty remains
My orphan heart was given a name
My mourning grew quiet my feet rose to dance
When death was arrested and my life began
Oh Your grace so free washes over me
You have made me new now life begins with You
It's Your endless love pouring down on us
You have made us new now life begins with You
Released from my chains I'm a prisoner no more
My shame was a ransom He faithfully bore
He cancelled my debt and He called me His friend
When death was arrested and my life began
Our Savior displayed on a criminal's cross
Darkness rejoiced as though Heaven had lost
But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand
That's when death was arrested and my life began
Oh we're free free forever we're free
Come join the song of all the redeemed
Yes we're free free forever amen
When death was arrested and my life began
Scripture
Luke 24:1-12
From the Common English Bible
Very early in the morning on the first day of the week, the women went to the tomb, bringing the fragrant spices they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in, they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 They didn’t know what to make of this. Suddenly, two men were standing beside them in gleaming bright clothing. 5 The women were frightened and bowed their faces toward the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He isn’t here, but has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Human One[a] must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.” 8 Then they remembered his words. 9 When they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and all the others. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles. 11 Their words struck the apostles as nonsense, and they didn’t believe the women. 12 But Peter ran to the tomb. When he bent over to look inside, he saw only the linen cloth. Then he returned home, wondering what had happened.
One: This is the Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God!
Song: Resurrecting
The head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now
The Savior knelt to wash our feet
Now at his feet we bow
The one who wore our sin and shame
/ Cayó mi culpa sobre aquel
Now robed in majesty
/ Que hoy reina en majestad
The radiance of perfect love
/ Que hoy reina en majestad
Now shines for all to see
/ Su amor perfecto iluminó, Toda la humanidad
Your name, Your name, Is victory
All praise, Will rise, To Christ our king
The fear that held us now gives way
To him who is our peace
His final breath upon the cross
Is now alive in me
By your spirit I will rise
/ Derrotado ya no estoy
From the ashes of defeat
/ Por Tu espíritu en mí
The resurrected king
/ Jesús resucitó
Is resurrecting me
/ Y vivo está en mí
In your name I come alive
/ En Tu nombre vivo estoy
To declare your victory
/ La victoria tengo en ti
The resurrected king
/ Jesús resucitó
Is resurrecting me
/ Y vivo está en mí
The tomb where soldiers watched in vain
Was borrowed for three days
His body there would not remain
Our God has robbed the grave
Our God has robbed the grave
Communion
All who are hungry for the grace of God are invited to Christ’s table.
Baptism
Apostles' Creed
We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended to the Grave; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Benediction
We invite you to stretch your arms out in a position of receiving as we pronounce a blessing on you.
Benediction Song
Oh with Jesus, as our center
And the Spirit that dwells in us
May we see your Kingdom coming
In our hearts and in our world
May we live ever present
And seek your Kingdom first
Oh, God bring redemption
And start the work in us
